Have Your Say!

2008 Employee Satisfaction and Engagement Survey

In the fall of 2008 more than 1000 employees of School District No. 42 participated in a comprehensive survey. The survey was created with the involvement of representatives of all employee groups - it was a truly made in SD42 survey. The results have now been analysed and put into a final report for all employees to see.

Now our steering team will review the report with their members and will meet again to begin the process of developing recommendations for action plans.

Survey update – December 2009
The Have Your Say steering team met on October 22 to identify key themes from the survey and to develop action plans that could be implemented easily and with available resources. The group decided that initial efforts should address employee recognition, consultation/communication, and workload/work life balance. Download the action plans document from the attachments section below.

Survey update – June 2009
We are pleased to report that following the publication of the original survey results in January the Board took a decision to engage the services of an external service provider to conduct a deeper analysis of the survey data. This process included both a quantitative analysis and a qualitative process involving employee focus groups to explore in greater depth some of the themes emerging from the survey. TCS Performance Strategies performed these tasks and presented their findings to steering team and to the Board of Education on June 24, 2009.

The steering team which is comprised of all employee group representatives has determined that it is now in a position to develop precise action plans. The work related to developing the draft for the detailed action plan will take place in late August and be brought back to the HR Board committee in September for review. Thanks to the efforts of the steering committee who have championed this initiative and thanks to those employees to took the time to provide valuable feedback in the focus group sessions.

The original survey data continues to be available (see links below). However we have now added the new documents presented by TCS Performance Strategies and hope that you will find the information helpful in better understanding the strengths and challenges that we face in School District No. 42. We look forward to bringing you back an action plan in the fall which will address the workplace issues you have raised.
