2010-2011 School Year Kindergarten Registration Process

Children who will be five years old on or before December 31, 2010, may begin school in September, 2010.

Program Options

French Immersion
All parents must register their child for French Immersion Kindergarten at their French Immersion catchment school.

French Immersion Catchment Schools - These are determined by English catchment schools:

• Eric Langton Elementary:
  AL, AR, AT, BM, EL, GE, HA, HH, KC, MRE, MC, RS, WC, WH, YEN
   
• Laity View Elementary:
  FA, GL, LV
   
• Pitt Meadows Elementary:
  DJ, EM, HP, PME

Late French Immersion
Students currently in Grade 5 anywhere in the district can register for Late French Immersion offered at Golden Ears Elementary School.

Montessori at Hammond
All parents must go to Hammond Elementary to register. (Montessori catchment is the entire district)

Year Round (Alternate Calendar)  at Kanaka Creek
All parents must register directly at Kanaka Creek whether they are in Kanaka’s catchment or not. Kanaka Creek has a small catchment and students living in this area will be given first priority as outlined in the Acceptance Criteria for all kindergarten registrations. Kanaka Creek operates on a year-round calendar with vacation periods during the months of December, April and August.

English Registration
All parents registering their child for English Kindergarten must do so at their catchment area school whether that school is their first choice or not. Click here to determine school catchment for your address

Cyberschool at Alouette
Register directly at Alouette Elementary School for this district educational option open to all students in School District No. 42 who will be going into Grades 6 and 7.

Bring the following when you come to register

• proof of child’s age (birth certificate)
   
• proof of BC residency (ONE of: Care Card, mortgage statement, rental agreement, drivers license, municipal tax bill, or utility bill)
   
• proof of Canadian residency (ONE of: Canadian Birth Certificate, Canadian Passport, Landed Immigrant papers/Permanent Residence Card or Certificate of Citizenship)
   
• proof of in catchment residency (bill with address or other documentation).
   
• proof of daycare (if you are requesting an out-of-catchment school as your first or second choice)

New Kindergarten Registration Criteria

Where space is an issue, priority will be determined according to the following criteria:

• In-catchment
   
• In-catchment daycare or out-of-catchment with siblings
   
• Out-of-catchment without siblings
   
• Out-of-district with siblings
   
• Out-of-district without siblings
